Elton John – The Million Dollar Piano – blu-ray – ERBRD5225 – eagle rock
Sir Elton Hercules John is a piano-maestro who is loving the pageant of big and colorful shows. So since 2011 the coliseum of Cearsar’s Palace in “Gambling-City” – Las Vegas is and was the appropriate venue for his annual spectacle.
The show started by “Also Sprach Zarathustra”as epic intro. Mister John was displaying himself in a silver coat before he started by the rock’n and rollin’ ”The Bitch Is Back”. To name out all musicians of the phenomenal band would be too much, but two long-time fellows have to be mentioned immediately as top-musicians: Davey Johnston the rockin’ guitarrero and Nigel Olsson as incredible drummer. John does not have to motivate the audience specially, although he does. They were electrified and hooked immediately. The gigantic led-screen in the back and the Orpehus design of the stage was just sensational. There was this aha-effect by the second track “Bennie And The Jets” with the stompy jazz-piano-solos. “Levon” was presented the orchestra style featuring a small orchestra. Off course EJ is doing some promotion for Yamaha as his piano sponsor and explaining his Million Dollar Piano with its eye-blowing led-lights-edgings and sound-possibilities. A very unique magnum opus! Elton was playing miraculously in the spotlight and to enchant by his sensitive piano-plays and powerful chant like by his song for the ladies “Tiny Dancer” The top kick-ass titles were definitely “I’m Still Standing” with Davey on the double-neck-axe and the honky-tonkin’ “Crocodile Rock”. No feet standing still and the audience risin’ from their seats. By “Saturday Night’s Allright” even a bunch of devotees was allowed on stage to boogie along… The show was concluded by the orbital panache and the dreamlike “Circle Of Life” the meditative style to send his fans on their auspicious way home or still for their nightly activities.
Elton John playin’ The Million Dollar Piano – A glorious show-celebration!
As bonus there Is a “Making Of” specially dealing the construction of the piano by Yamaha and all stage-props featuring interesting commentaries also specially by the maestro himself – Elton.
The second bonus is featuring songs from his live-gig at the market-place of Kiev in front of a huge crowd – Vow…
