Part one of the show was by acoustic song-interpretations again. It started proverbial by “Dust Bowl”, often a problem in the “Big Apple” as New York is entitled. Joe played some finest fingerpickin’ riffs on his Gibson six-string. His Irish friends The Huckleberries contributed some traditional melodies from their home-country by playing the fiddle and nyckelharpa. “Trouble Town” as second track was the song of the percussions played by maestro Lenny Castro. This was one of the never performed live-tracks, so mister Bonamassa selected real special songs for his hometown-guitar-maniacs. By “Still Water” he presents a new recording, a song by Daniel Lanois. Joe’s chant was ever so dreamlike-beautiful and seductive. On the piano there was again legendary SRV & Double Trouble keyboarder Reese Wynans. His special song was “Happier Times ”. A joyful, acoustic show at highest level again was at its final.
The electric set started by “Never Give All Your Heart” and a special nyckelharpa intro by Mats Wester. On electric bass was again the groove master Carmine Rojas. JB loves horn-sections, this time Lee Thornburg, Nick Lane, Paulie Cerra on trumpet, trombone and saxophone. The seond title “Hidden Charms” is a boogie-cracker and Weese is hony-tonkin’ again on his Hammond and in duell with Joe. Mister speed-finger was playing hell of a solos again. “Living On The Moon” is as new song an absolute highlight blues-rocker, full of dynamite. Tal Bergman on drums is the extraordinary, virtuoso rocketeer for the big-stomp. Traditional blues-lovers got in excitement by “Double Trouble”, Joe’s homage to Stevie Ray Vaughan and BB King by his guitar-arts. Joe finalized his gig with the slow and sensitive blues “So What Should I do” and manifesting that he has also a strong voice. . Standing end-ovations were the enthusiastic fans-appraisal.
Joe Bonamassa has delivered by “Live At Radio City Music Hall” another live-immortalization at highest show-level. For JB die hard fans and blues-rockin’guitar-riffers an absolute must! For fans of extravagance concerts a great deal to have a joyful evening on your home-cinema.
