Vargas – Appice – Shortino – THE ROCK TEMPLE Kerkrade (NL) 18.03.2012

THE ROCK TEMPLE, Kerkrade on a Sunday Evening. Four M.I.B. – MEN IN BLACK a.k.a Javier Vargas – Carmine Appice – Paul Shortino and Luis Mayol had the mission to keep the bonfire burning live for their“Classic” Hard-Rock with blues-touch. This club is cult-phenomenal and a well known live-institution. Unbelievable which rare band-performances by the efforts of Eternal Rock as their concert-organization had taken place there and will. And they are making to perform even the big metal and hard-rock bands like Judas Priest or Thin Lizzy in the Limburg region of Holland 2012.

As support band were performing the Spice Boys in top-way cover-versions of songs like “Runnin’ With The Devil” by  Van Halen up to “Carry On Wayward Son” by Kansas. They really were to evoke hot atmosphere. A hot-tip if you need a band performing this music-style for your party or wedding.

All dressed in black the M.I.B. entered the stage by loud fan-cheers and started with “Lady”. Javier was demonstrating from the very first “Chord” that he can play hard-rock with heavy riffs and licks and that he is not only a blues-man. And Paul is still an excellent hard-rock-shouter by voice and performance. Does anybody remember that he was “Duke Fame” in the movie “Spinal Tap”? It was blues-rock-time by hitting “Spoonfull”, best known by the version of Cream. Naturally Javier was performing hoodooing guitar-magic. It was also specially the song for Luis to show what monster on bass he was by his explosive play and solo. Paul dedicated “Heaven & Hell” to his friend and “Metal-God” Ronnie James Dio – R.I.P. He started it as a solo-vocal-performance until his bandmates joined in to this “Metal-Hymn” In the midst of “Livin’ Alone” it was the time for the one and only drum-legend Mr. Carmine Appice for his solo. If you watched him on stage he was behaving and posing like he was the real rock-star in the band. He was a good power-drummer, no doubt with double-bass-drum playing-technique. His solo though was not one of the high-class and most exciting ones some fans have  might have seen. It seemed a bit too old-style. “Black Night” afterwards as devotement to Deep Purple demonstrated what a tight, dynamic and homogeneous live-band the four M.I.B. were at T.R.T. Playing “Do Ya Think I’M Sexy! in its power-version was a homage to the good-ole days when Appice was in still in the Rod Stewart Band performing this smash-hit. He was singing in very loud mood the refrain-vocals.

The MEN IN BLACK – Vargas – Appice – Shortino – Mayol had successfully accomplished their mission. They kept the fire burning on high flame and the heartbeat on speed-stroke as well for their live-music. THE ROCK TEMPLE, Kerkrade had been host to another superbe concert-event. The fans had ultimate fun and were exhausted to the limit by their freak-action.

LONG LIVE ROCKN’ ROLL***!
