Voices & Harps – Moya Brennan & Cormac de Barra & Aisling Jarvis @ Die Ritterakademie – Lüneburg – 24.11.2013

The most grand, congenial musical liaison Voices & Harps featuring Moya Brennan and Cormac de Barra ever such a great experience live. So it was no wonder that Die Ritterakademie in Lüneburg was sold-out on this Sunday and also the Last Night Of The German Tour 2013! Eveybody was in festive mood and this concert was a magnificent pre-start to the coming Christmas season. The most stylish, beautiful auditorium was already decorated with big stars. So the theme could only be “Let The Irish Spirit” to arise.

The ceremonies started by ‘Crann Úll’. It was the angelic voice of Moya , her rhythm-harp play and the lead-harp-solos of Cormac and vocals to enchant immediately.  The fans were ever so captivated. Moya was like a fairy in paradise when she was singing ‘She Moved Through The Fair’. Cormac was so versatile when he was cajoling his beloved instrument and proving extraordinarily why he’s playing in the premier league of celtic harp-players. Off course there were songs from Moya´s main band Clannad and ‘Theme from Harry´s Game’ was to appeal joy-filled applause. ‘Sailing’ the brilliant song from their cd-masterwork “Affinity” made the fans to whip to the rhythm, these pulsating vibes were phantasmagorical. As third musical fellow there was Aisling Jarvis. She was in the background and playing rhythm guitars and Bodhrán (Irish Percussion). She is the daughter of Moya and she testified that she’s a chip off the old block by ‘Fragile’ when she took over the expressive lead chant. She showed that she is ever so talented and multi-instrumental, she can play the bouzouki, uilleann pipes and keyboards, too. Pity she did not play the pipes whilst this show. By ‘Seanduine Doite’ as gaelic-song Voices & Harps were finalizing the first set the kind of folk’n roll way by flawy applause.

The second part was to commence by the kind of opera-like ‘The Lass of Aughrim’. The harmony between chant and harp-tunes were ever so sweet and to ensorcell the fascinated listeners.  There was the Christoffel Blindenmission (blind-mission) as stand-promoter and nearly everybody was to get an orange knick-light at their stand against a donation. What a wonderful picturesque sight when these were waived.  ‘Máire Bhruinneal’ was the very traditional style and Barrac was the strong guy on primo. It got very joyous by  ‘Two Sisters’ and Moya was the she-wolf to call her fans to sing-along and they did the most exciting way. By closed eyes the performance of ‘Down By The Sally Gardens’  was like a promenade by full moon in an Irish abbey yard. ‘O’Carolan’s Concerto’ was the big-time by solos of Master De Barra on harp. These were ever so diversified. What a magic-momentum and delight. ‘Against The Wind’ was the last song of set two. The wind was blowing the thunderous applause to the artists and they returned very emotional to the stage to perform their encore ‘Téir Abhaile Riú’. Everybody was standing up, clapping, dancing and singing-along to the happy Irish tunes. The perfect way to send their fans home the blessed-way as it means by translation – Go Home With You! Oh these did not yet, they were first enjoying to meet Moya, Cormac & Aisling for small-talks, autographs and photos personally afterwards. How grateful and simpatico by the artists.
